Abrasive water jet (AWJ) technology is a new technology developed quickly in recent year. It has more advantages than other machining technology. However, there are some shortcomings such as deficiencies in surface finish and lack of intelligence. Based on the current open-NC technology, AWJ numeric controlled software system is developed. It supports and improves water jet cutting technology.AWJ CNC system of "PC+PMAC" structure is studied in this paper. The numeric controlled software for abrasive water jet cutting based on PMAC is developed, using visual C++. The software system includes three main modules, AWJ cutting drawing design system (AWJCAD); AWJ CNC cutting processing system; integrated system of AWJ CNC system based on PMAC.AWJCAD system realizes drawing different figure elements, including point, line, rectangle, circle, arc and so on ,the user can pick up the graphics for editorial changes operation. And what's more, the graphic profile information can be extracted in the subsystem. The information is saved in the database, so that the data can be used by the follow-up processing subsystem and integrated system.The BP neural network module of AWJ cutting is built based on artificial neural network theory. Training sample and weight value are saved in the database. ADO access technology is adopted to connect the database. The AWJ processing parameters are saved in the Access 2003 database.The integrated system based on PMAC has functions of drafting design,tool cutting path generation, editing and processing procedures for processing simulation. It can control the water jet cutting speed on real time according to the graphic sections. Therefore the cutting surface quality is improved. At the same time, the research of software based on PMAC may play important role in the modern manufacture.
