Water jet machining and abrasive water jet machining is an advanced manufacturing technology. Water jet cutting has advantages of no thermal stress, no effect on the organization and physical as well as chemical properties of metal. Therefore, it is much better than conventional machining method.A form of open-architecture computer numeric controlled system based on PMAC and COM for Water Jet Machine is described. The open-architecture computer numeric controlled system can solve the contradiction between the rapidly changed market demand and the close computer numeric controlled system. In order to enhance the flexible function of the computer numeric controlled system for Water Jet Machine, modular, reconfigurable and expandable architecture were build. The open-architecture computer numeric controlled system for Water Jet Machine can quickly response the rapidly changing demand of water jet special precise machining.In the thesis, an open-architecture computer numeric controlled hard ware system for Water Jet Machine based on PC+PMAC is constructed. PC and PMAC Master-slave Controlled system is realized. Open-architecture computer numeric controlled system software for Water Jet Machine based on COM is designed. It realized multi-layer design of management software and Real-time Control software. PMAC can simulate the numeric controlled program by modifying a certain address. Therefore a module of tool path simulation is achieved. It can only be used to simulate the simple part's tool path. By choosing reasonable control parameter, satisfied performance of the open-architecture computer numeric controlled system is obtained. Finally, the communication between the systems models is approved the performance of the open-architecture computer numeric controlled system for Water Jet Machine were tested by experiments.The results studied in the thesis have great academic meanings and important value in applications.
