With the rapid development of China's economy and the establishment of market system, Chinese tire industry is developing quickly. There are 11 abroad tire manufacturers in the world have set up their own business with their own capital or joint ventures in China. The national tire marketing is assuming the trends of international, and the competition is becoming more fierce and uncertain, which has brought great opportunity of development as well as threat to existence. So it is necessary to adjust the industry policy in terms of industry structure, and develop the tire industry according to the 11th five-year planning guideline. How to make the corresponding competition strategy has become an important issue for each tire enterprise.This thesis first expounds strategic management process and the theory of competition, such as theory of competition advantage, the theory of core competitive force and the newest development of current competition theory; Secondly, it analyzes macro environment of tire industry from different aspects such as law, economic, society and technology according to means of PEST. It using"five forces"model of Porter objectively analyzes the industry environment, the current situation of tire marketing and forecasts the developing trends and prospect of China's tire industry. Then, by the help of abundant detailed data information, it analyzes and evaluates the resource and operation capability of Henan Tire Co. Ltd in terms of the performance in the industry from 2003 to the first half year of 2006 with the combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis. At last, this thesis analyzes and assesses the competition capability of Henan Tire Co. Ltd by virtue of SWOT analysis. And it puts forward the competition strategy of stripping the disadvantage projects of the corporation and refocusing on the advantage resource to develop the advantage projects and co-operation. It brings up some advise for putting the competitive strategy into effect.
