With the rapid development of plastic injection molding, large numbers of training for correlative technicians have become practical requirement now. A knowledge-based, digital, visual and computer-based virtual injection machine system is an effective solution of this problem. According to the specification of the cooperative project between HAITAI corporation and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the simulation of plastic injection molding machines has been investigated thoroughly. And the corresponding simulation system has been developed. The analysis and design of the virtual injection machine system with modern software technologies are discussed. Through a deep insight into the actual operating environment of injection machines and the characteristics of injection molding, the configuration of the simulation system has been established. Functions of every module are introduced with total base classes of the simulation system also established. Three modeling schemes have been analyzed and final modeling through CAD systems is adopted, with model data obtained by programs. The graphics base with OpenGL has been established, with functions of main modules introduced. Principles of three-dimensional effects are also presented.Three methods of action simulation have been discussed in this paper based on the analysis of injection machines'motions. Action simulation through programs with animation positioned is applied. And simulating based on skeletal animations is illustrated in details.Model control in hierarchy is presented. Through proper simplifications, the configuration and principle of control logic are also explained, based on the analysis of two control methods. The realization procedure has been discussed.Based on the above research, a simulation system named as HsCAI has been developed. And the interface and procedure of the system are displayed.
