PTT (polytrimethylene terephthalate) fiber is a new type of polyester fiber developed in recent years, which has good flexibility, elastic recovery, and excellent dyeability performance. Apparel fabrics made of it have a good soft hand and excellent draping property. They are very popular and loved by the customers;The cruciform section PTT which is based on the circular section PTT fiber is a kind of noncircular fibers. Except the different section, two fibers have the same composition and structure of macromolecules. Having four grooves, the cruciform section PTT fiber has bigger specific surface area and better wet permeability and vapor transmission. So that the cruciform section PTT fiber is used for developing the comfortable fabrics better.According to testing, analyzing and comparing the mechanical properties of the filaments of the cruciform section PTT, the cruciform section PET and the circular section PTT, it is comprehensively known about all the garment comfort performance of the cruciform section PTT cloth. In this paper, the above three filaments' and their knitting fabrics mechanical properties are tested and analyzed. By building the model of wet permeability of the fabrics, and after the structure of the fabric is designed and weaved, the fabrics' wet permeability is researched. From all the above experiment and analysis, the followings are known:1. The mechanical properties of the cruciform section PTT filament is the same as the circular section PTT filament with the good elasticity and elastic recovery, 70% of the elastic recovery rate can be obtained even after stretching 10 times in the elongation rate of 20%. Meanwhile, the cruciform section PTT filament has higher initial modulus and tensile strength.2. The same garment comfort properties of the cruciform section PTT fabric and the circular PTT fabric are got: good performance of the anti-crease, breaking, elastic recovery and drapability. But the cruciform section PTT fabric has the better wet permeability property than the circular section PTT fabric so that it is more suitable for developing the comfortable cloth3. According to building the model of wet permeability of the cruciform section fiber, the wet conduction velocity and flow of the yarn and fabric made up of the cruciform section fiber are analyzed. It is found that the wet permeability of the cross section is much better than that of the circular section, and the liquor water flow of the cruciform section fabric loop is 3 times more than the circular section loop when a certain parameters are kept the same.4. Based on the principle of the differential capillary effect of the fabric and setting up the mode of the wet permeability about the interwoven fabric of the cruciform section fiber and the circular section fiber, it is appeared that the differential capillary effect is more conducive to the fabric which is composed of different section fiber in the inside and outside, and the wet permeability is much better too.5. Due to the different structure of the horizontal and vertical loops, the transmission velocity of the liquid water in the vertical loops is faster than in the horizontal loops.6. Under a certain condition of the number of the fiber, the liquid water conductive pathway is longer and the wet permeability of the fabric is worse when the fabric density is bigger.
