The preparation, curing mechanism and physical-chemical properties of the composite coatings based on cardanol are studied by modem techniques in this paper.(1) Firstly, it is proved that CNSL is UV-curable, and then the UV curing mechanism of CNSL is investigated. Secondly, the best conditions of UV curing are studied. Thirdly, the comparison between the physical-chemical properties of UV cured film (UV-CNSL) and cardanol-aldehyde condensation polymer (CF) is made.(2) Firstly, the preparations of UV-CNSL/SiO2,UV-CNSL/TiO2 and UV-CNSL/OMMT are studied. Secondly, the dispersibility of nanoparticles (SiO2,TiO2 and OMMT) is researched. Thirdly, the effects of concentrations of nanoparticles on the physical-chemical properties of UVcured films are investigated.(3) Firstly, the preparation of the CNSL/ hexamethoxymethylmelamine composite coating (CNSL/HMMM) is studied. Secondly, the mechanism of thermal curing of CNSL/HMMM and the best conditions of preparation are investigated. Thirdly, the comparison between physical-chemical properties of CNSL/HMMM and CF is made.
