Ferrocene derivatives as combustion catalyst have already played important roles in the aerospace industry. A lot of polymers containing ferrocene have been synthesized from 1955. Ferrocene-containing polymers possess very useful properties including high thermal stability, radiation resistance and electroconduction properties.Polyurethane polymers are a wide class of materials nowadays. Polyurethane polymers possess outstanding properties such as sound insulation, thermal isolation, abrasion resistant, heat resistant and well-adhesive. As a result of these excellent natures, they have a widespread application ranging from surface coatings and plastics and adhesives.Because of these interesting features of polymers containing ferrocene and polyurethane polymers, a series of new diferrocene-containing polyurethanes were synthesized by the reaction of three kinds of diisocyanate with dihydric alcohol of 2,2—bisferrocenylpropane in this paper. The synthesis condition was confirmed. The compositions and structures of these polymers are characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum and ~1HNMR spetra. Molecular weights of polymers were determined by GPC; Thermal stabilities were studied using DTA-TGA; and the properties of oxido-reduction of these polymers were researched by cyclic voltammetry.
