Ink-jet printing ink is a very important part of ink-jet printing technology.As the main consumables in ink-jet printing process,it determines the color fastness,pattern quality and fineness of ink-jet printing products.Reactive dye ink is widely used because of its complete chromatogram,good washing fastness and suitable for cotton and other cellulosic fibers.In this paper,the properties of reactive dye/binary primary alcohol mixed solution were studied according to the requirements of ink-jet printing production.The effects of binary primary alcohol on the moisture retention,stability,viscosity,surface tension and droplet morphology of reactive dye ink were characterized by stability analyzer,UV-Vis absorption spectrometer and droplet observer.The experimental results show that the molecular structure of binary primary alcohols plays an important role in the properties of mixed solutions.When binary primary alcohol is added,the hydrogen bond formed between binary primary alcohol and water molecule will increase the moisture retention of the mixed solution,and the ethylene glycol solution has the best moisture retention at the same concentration.The hydrophobic structure of binary primary alcohol molecule and reactive dyes form alcohol-dye aggregates,which can cause the dye to be depolymerized.Among them,1,5-pentanediol molecule has the strongest depolymerization ability to dyes.The binary primary alcohol molecule will form a regular arrangement at the gas-liquid interface,in which the hydrophobic part is toward the air and the hydrophilic part is toward the inner part of the solution,resulting in the decrease of the surface tension of the mixed solution,of which 1,5-pentanediol has the greatest influence on the surface tension of the solution.The effects of binary primary alcohols with different structures on solution viscosity are different,among which ethylene glycol has the least effect and 1,5-pentanediol has the greatest effect.The morphology of droplets is affected by both the surface tension and the viscosity of the solution.Proper surface tension and viscosity can help to form stable droplets and reduce the formation of satellite droplets.
