Recently, fire is frequently. In order to safeguard the security and property of consumers, it is necessary to endow cotton fire-resistance. Since the flammability of cotton is greatly impacted by leather making technology, especially by the wet processing and fire cotton used, the research on both fields are very important.Using dimethyl phosphate and acrylamide as raw materials, series of 3-(dimethylphosphono) propinamide compounds and N-hydroxy- methyl-3-(dimethyl phosphono)propinamide were synthesized. Some analysis tools and methods were used to characterize synthetic products, such as 1H NMR, 31P NMR, Infrared spectroscopy and Electrospray ionization mass spectrometer( ESI-MS). Some conclusions can be got from a lot of data. Ester-interchange reaction was reserched by 31PNMR and ESI-MS. In addition, fragmentation pathways of title compounds were rationalized and supported by tandem mass spectrometry.A kind of new mixture was applied in flame-retardant treatment for cotton fabrics. Flammability of the treated fabrics was investigated by Vertical Burning Test. Results show that flame retardants could improve the fire resistance of cotton fabrics to a great extent.
