| The concept of scientific development is the latest achievement of Marxism theories in China. It is the concept of scientific development that must command overall situation of the development of economy and society in the new period. The sustainable development is the key part of the concept of scientific development. This paper is a staged research result of Studies of Theoretical System of the Concept of Scientific Development (05BKSO13) , a project of the national fund of social sciences. The sustainable development is a new concept of development concerned with human survival and long-term development. In a sense, the process of the establishment of socialism in new-born China led by the CPC is the process in which the sustainable development possesses its spirit of the times owing to the CPC's spirit of keeping pace with the times thereby conceiving the sustainable development, forming the strategy, and implementing it in China; it is also a process in which the sustainable development possesses Chinese characteristics due to the combination of the advanced concept of development abroad with China's contemporary national situation. Guided by Marxism theory, this paper explores the evolution of sustainable development in China described as "conceiving the thought-forming the strategy-specifically implementing", with its grounds as the successive Chinese leaders' important treatise and with its point of penetration as the relationship between economical development and population, resources and environment. This paper discusses several generations of Chinese leaders' unique contribution to pushing forward the sustainable development. Theoretically speaking, this paper seeks to make a summary of the evolution of sustainable development in China, thereby exploring the implementation of the concept of political achievements based on green GDP which stresses the establishment of the society with thrifty resources and amiable environment, in hope of providing reference for knowing and implementing the establishment of such a society at present. |
