Study On Functional Maternity Dress

With the improvement of living standards, maternity dress became a necessity during pregnancy. Modern women had a more positive consumer attitudes, and they focused on the health status of fetuses and themselves. So more their attention was payed to all kinds of products used during gestation. Maternity dress was a subject of concern to pregnant women because it was used every day. Although there were many different kinds of dress in China, most of them were only in reference to the pregnant body size changes.They did not realize the functions needed by pregnant women, and they were unable to meet the urgent needs of pregnant womeaIn this paper, the methods of product design were used for functional maternity dress design. Its functions were achieved by structure and material design. And experiments were carried out to confirm effectiveness of its functional structure.This study was divided into five stages :First, the study analyzed the background and current situation, and raised the importance and significance of functional maternity dress design. The purpose of the study and research steps were also outlined. Through literature, research-related knowledge was reserved as a design theoretical support.Second, in the actual design of the functional maternity dress, design framework was made through the survey, that the design was to the two new functions—anti-electromagnetic radiation and prevention of tow back pain. These two functions were achieved through material selection and design of the structure, and they were integrated into a set of functional maternity dress.Thirdly, spinal electronic measuring instrument was used in experiments to get the spinal sagittal images change before and after wearing. By qualitative and quantitative methods, the changes of the lumbar lordosis and the lumbar tordosis angle were analyzed. And the effectiveness ofthe functional structure was verified.Fourth, the fabrics and colors were designed to match the balance of functionality and appearance, and a specific display cases followed.Finally, to sum up this design results and look forward to the future of functional maternity dress design.
