Research On Influencing Factors And Mechanism Of Environmental Air Quality In Macau Peninsula

In recent years, the increasing traffic and demand of resource induced by economic boom and influx of tourists has deteriorated the environmental air quality in Macau dramatically. Hence, there is an essential need for starting the research on Influencing Factors and Mechanism of Environmental Air Quality in Macau Peninsula, moreover, it is a problem needed to be resolved to enhance environmental quality in Macau.Based on the meteorological data and the monitored data of air contaminations of Macau from 2001 to 2004, this paper analyses the seasonal distribution and influencing intensity characteristics of the principle atmospheric contaminates in Macau peninsula. At the same time, the concentration data of the TSP and PM10 are collected through the field survey method in main road areas of Macau so as to understand the relationship between the transportation and the air quality of roadsides. On the other hand, based on the concentration of O₃ and the frequency of the acid rain in the recent years, the influence of characteristics of space time and its trend to the Macau air quality are analyzed from the principle air contaminate at peal delta regions. The results show that the air quality of Macau peninsula is mainly influenced by the daily increasing transportation activities inside the peninsula and the atmospheric contaminations of the peal delta regions. On the other hand, profiting from a series of ameliorating programs by the CEM in the recent years, the influence area and intensity of the main atmospheric contaminations discharged by the different power plants in the Macau peninsula have been dropped. In spring and summer, the air quality of Macau peninsula is mainly influenced by the atmospheric contaminations emitted by the power plant in the island and the transportations inside the peninsula, where the air quality in autumn and winter is mainly influenced by the atmospheric contaminations of the peal delta regions. Because of the high speed development of the Macau economy in recent years, the rapid increase of transportations and the raising amount of the atmospheric contaminations released by the peal delta regions, Macau air quality is becoming worse in the recent years.Consequently, main procedures to enhance environmental air quality in Macau are addressed, including the use of energy saving vehicles, limiting the emission of vehicle exhaust and harmonies controlling of air pollutants in pearl delta region.
