Water jet cutting machine is a kind of abnormity cutting technology which has been developed in later years. As a kind of new machining technology, it is needed to cut any figure and any material. Graphics system in water jet cutting machine uses interaction to draw what the cutting machine need to draw, and execute some function such as drawing tangent, seizing end-point and so on. Also the graphics system can find drawing trajectory. And at last, in order to establish the interface to CAM, it can save figure information to database. For a long time, in our station, machine CAD graphics system is at the standard of DOS or single-board computer. All of these CAD graphics systems have a common defect: the level of automation is low, and can't draw complicated figure, haven't enough accuracy, also their characteristics aren't stable. In the last years, study for graphics system has make some development, but the most current CAD graphics system are very costly, also they aren't adopt to the need of different enterprise.A new CAD graphics system is developed in this paper. This system has accomplished tangent drawing, symmetry figure drawing and seizing end-point function etc, which make graphics drawing easier. By establishing graphics data interface, operator can draw all kinds of graphics accurately. By find drawing trajectory, the system can accomplish machining graphics. By saving the information of figure to database and visiting database, the system can establish the interface to CAM so as to improve system stability. By getting graphics information from database, the system can accomplish emulating, so as to check the accuracy of figures. Therefore, the article puts emphasis on the realization of CAD graphics system in water jet cutting Machine.The research contents include:1. According to characteristics to Graphics System in Water Jet Cutting Machine, the article defines that this graphics system is a kind of 2-dimensional graphics system. The system has realized drawing all kinds of figure, figure edition and data saving, also, the system has studied a few technical problems. These problems include: rubber-band technology, selection of basic figure, edition of basic figure.2. The system has realized all kinds of assistant - functions. These functions include: end point Capture, drawing mirror figure, accurately drawing, figure of contact, font drawing.3. Because water jet cutting machine can't jump cutting, its trajectory must be closed continuous curve. Operator doesn't draw according to cutting trajectory when he draws, so, we must find drawing trajectory. The system can make the end-point of preceding figure and the start-point of later figure coincided by handling all figures circularly, and creates the cutting trajectory of water jet machine.4. Building the linking to database, and saving figure information to database after finding cutting trajectory. The system adopt SQL Server database.5. In order to verify if the figure information saved in database is correct, this system has realized drawing figure according to dada in database, and also compare the figure with the figure that customers want. It will suggest data saved in database is correct if the figure accord with customers need.The CAD interaction graphics system given in this paper is easy to operate, and is different to previous graphics systems applied to water jet machine which are used by mastering some coding skills. It can draw flexibly and draw any intricate figure. Its characteristics are steady and easy to use. Applying this system to water jet machine is to improve drawing efficiency and accuracy greatly, which is beneficial to the popularization and development of water jet machine.
