With the development of science and technology, Ultraprecision manufacturing technique has advanced rapidly from the traditional micrometer manufacturing to the nanometer manufacturing. The computer simulation of molecular dynamics (MD) plays an important role in validating the experiment result, presenting microcosmic manufacturing. But, it was restricted by slow calculating, long periods of program debugging and results not intuitionistic etc. Therefore, a technology is cried for to overcome these difficulties. There comes visualization of MD simulation. It converts traditional numbers into 3D graphics or animation and advanced greatly the efficiency of research. This technology can be applied in visualizing simulation results, speeding up program debugging and communicating research effectively to accelerate the research of ultraprecision manufacturing microcosmic mechanism.This paper focuses on the research of visualization which is applied in MD simulation based on machining field. MDView is developed to visualize the process of machining and provided as visual tool for the research of microcosmic cutting mechanism.MDView includes importing the simulation results, constructing and displaying 3D scene of machining process and handling with events such as interaction. It is implemented with C++ and OpenGL. The MD simulation results of machining are stored in text file in a specific format. MDView can import the spacial structure and understand the property information. And then, it displays the 3D graphics of simulation model according to the spacial structure. It can interact with the simulation model in rotating, translating, scaling and cutaway view or draw postprocessing cloud chart to make researchers easily analyse the simulation results. It is a higher demand of MDView performance that so many atoms are displayed in the screen when interacted with.users. MDView improves effectively the program performance according to simulation results files importing and response time of interaction. MDView. MDView is finally applied to achieve visualization of nanometric cutting of single crystalline aluminum with a diamond tool by MD simulation. It is proved that MDView is valid in visualization of MD simulation on ultraprecision manufacturing.
