It is not referred in "Identification of major hazard sources" (GB 18218-2000) whether the blast furnace, the furnace loaded with molten iron, the converter, finery and some other the metallurgy furnaces are major hazard installations, in this article, the theory and method on identifying the metallurgy furnace is or is not major hazard installation is discussed, and the theory and method will provides theory basis when the "Identification of major hazard sources" (GB 18218-2000) is revised and perfected. Through compute result, when the operation pressure is 0.03MPa and the dimension is over 110m~3, the blast furnace is major hazard installation, When the operation pressure is 0.3MPa and the dimension is over 23m~3, the blast furnace is major hazard installation, the blast furnace is major hazard installation. When the operation pressure is 0.03MPa and the tonnage is over 24t, the converter or the finery is major hazard installation. When the operation pressure is 0.03MPa and the capacity is over 250t, the furnace loaded with molten iron is major hazard installation.Through the discussion on the fire accident consequence arise from the coal gas Sprayed from the blast furnace coal gas tank, the blast accident consequence arise from the coal gas leaked from the blast furnace, and the coal gas diffusion consequence, the blast furnace coal gas leakage and blast accident injury radius is brought forward.
