Nowadays, it is very important to reduce the harmfulness of materials to the health and environment when it is used. As for the electrode with low fume and low dust, it has been late for our country to do the research. Comparing with the overseas products, there are still some obvious differences. This thesis aims to do some experimental work to decrease the fume and dust of electrodes.Based on the basic formulas of typical structural steel electrodes and by analyzing the slag and coating components of the domestic and abroad different brands of low hydrogen electrodes, nine ingredients were selected and the scopes of ingredients for these nine coating components were determined. According to the results of uniform design, we arranged experiments to make electrodes and measure their various properties. H08A was selected as the rod. The function relationship between coating components and every operational property was analyzed.By means of regression analysis, the relationship among fume, dust, and various operational properties with coating components were analyzed. The operational properties get better with the increasing contents of Fe, BaCO3 and wollastonite. On the other hand, the operational properties get worse with the increasing contents of Al-Mg powder and BaF2.By regression analyzing the collected fume volume, it can be concluded that the fume and dust of electrodes are lightened when increasing the contents of rutile and wollastonite, while aggravated when increasing the content of fluorite.
