Trollius chinensis is the drying flower of Trollius chinensis Bunge of Ranunculaceae, with the drug effect of clearing away heat and toxic. It has been used to cure tonsillitis, aphthae, acute enteritis and so on in the folk. It has well effect in clinical in curing acute suppurative tonsillitis, upper respiratory tract infection, pharyngitis, acute enteritis and acute bronchitis. It was affirmative that Trollius chinensis would be a new anti-bacterial and anti-virus medicine base on the folk application and present pharmacological research. Trollius chinensis resource is rich. It distributes widely in mongolia, north and northeast China. The effective fraction is total flavonoids. The optimum extract conditions were selected by applying orthogonal test design. Soak time, water consumption, extracting time, repetition times were evaluated, which would be the basis of selecting the optimum extract conditions. To evaluate applicability of the method, we inspected technology of extraction and refinement of Trollius chinensis injection by the content of total flavonoids. Technologies of Water extraction and ethanol precipitation, macro porous resins were applied. The content of total flavonoids reached 81.7%, which afforded the foundation for technology optimization and new drug development. The content of total flavonoids was determination quota reported by the document. Determining the content of Orientin and Vitexin was used to control quality of Trollius chinensis by TCL and HPLC. Content determination of one, two or total can not reflect stability of the herb when the active components are not clear. Fingerprint can afford the new method to evaluate and control the quality effectively. We studied the HPLC fingerprint of Trollius chinensis from various sources base on the study of chemical composition and extraction process, and establish 21 common peaks by comparing 10 different samples. The study is helpful to quality control of Trollius chinensis and its extraction and preparation.
