At present, studies on reusing municipal wastewater as industrial cooling tower makeup water are on the base of advanced treatment for secondary sewage effluent, so as to meet the demand of industrial cooling water ,and the expenditure for this treatment is very high. So we will take secondary effluent directly to industrial recycling cooling system and then improve the treatment process of cooling water, in order to adapt it to the new conditions which caused by the changing of makeup water. The water treatment processes of cooling system include anticorrosion, scale inhibition, microbe control and so on. In this article the scale inhibition for recycling cooling system, which reuses municipal waste water directly as makeup source, is mainly studied. And this article considered mostly on engineering application.In this research, we take the way of adding scale inhibitor to control scale of recycling cooling system. Firstly, the differences between the quality of secondary treated sewage and quality of recycling cooling water and components of water causing equipments scale are analyzed respectively in this paper. We compared the effect of several typical scale inhibitor for municipal waste water by static experiments in the laboratory, analyzed their mechanisms, and compounded them in order to find out a compound scale inhibitors most suitable for recycling cooling system which reuses sewage plant effluent as makeup source directly. Then, we studied the scale inhibitors on several use-conditions in recycling cooling system, effects on equipments' corrosion, compatibilities with other stabilizers and its applicability for sewage effluent. At last, we did dynamic analogous experiment, generally evaluated the characters of the compound scale inhibitor we developed when it was used in the recycling cooling system, which reuses sewage plant effluent as makeup water directly, and finally deduced that the compound scale inhibitor selected is efficient, cheap and stable and can well solve the scale problem of recycling cooling system using sewage treatment plant effluent as makeup directly.
