The living environment of human being worsens day by day due to the excessively destroying, while the economy is developing rapidly. Protecting the environment has become the common topic of the mankind. With the development of Internet technology in recent years, the remote monitoring and control system has been widely used to protecting the environment. The application of reliable pollution sources monitoring system is an effective way to keep us away from pollution, as well as the guarantee of sustainable development of environment.The popular C/S framework is applied to our pollution sources monitoring and control system, which has the characteristics of more monitoring nodes and bigger data bulk compared to the general industry monitoring system. Further more, most of the monitoring nodes of the system are located in outdoor environments such as landscape, plain and canals, it's difficult to use the wired physical network as the general industry monitoring system does. Therefore, the wireless communication network, having lower speed and worse stability is applied as the transmit medium.In the thesis, we focus on the analysis and design of the server system for the monitoring and control system according to its characteristics. The main contributions include the following aspects:1. The framework of the server system, as well as the corresponding technical solutions according to it's own characteristics are designed. The hand shaking transmitting protocol in the application level is used to make sure the reliable transmission of data, while the static information of the data is recorded by database. The operation parameters of the monitoring nodes are managed through the communication link. And the function of online upgrade is realized by using the embedded script language.2. A method of thread pool upon I/O multiplex parallel management is proposed in the thesis to fulfill the demand of parallel management of the monitoringand control system. And the better performance of the proposed method is verified after comparing to the multi-thread and I/O multiplex method. 3. Efficiently managing hundreds of millions of data is of great importance to the environment pollution sources monitoring system. In the thesis, the management of data is fully realized by designing the table structure and index based on the MySQL database. Finally, the performance of the approach is investigated through the test.
