In this paper, positive epoxy functional-modified silicone emulsion is synthesized by means of emulsion copolymerization with octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane and silicone coupling agent carrying with epoxy-group under the basic activators. The factors influencing the emulsion copolymerization and the emulsion stability such as polymeric temperature, time, activators, coupling agents, emulsifier, polymerization methods and so on are analyzed by contrasting and perpendicular experiment. By these ways, the best formulation , polymeric condition of epoxy fiinctional-modified silicone emulsion and a simple synthesis method are determined. At last, the emulsion is applied to the fabric's softening following the capability tests, with evaluating the softening effect.Results show that epoxy functional-modified silicone emulsion has excellent property with acid-base stability, heat stability, electrolytical stability, centrifugal stability and placed stability, and has small emulsion particle, high viscosity and good softness, as well as can be randomly diluted by water, without yellow on the treated fabric. As compared with conventional two-steps methods, which emulsion is modified following pre-emulsified to hydroxy silicon emulsion, the method by dripping mono-silicone directly is simple to handle, and economize time and energy, as well as lower the cost of production. So it has good foreground.
