The real-time online photoelectric inspection system is a complicatedsystem, which covers the technology of photoelectricity, mechanism, computerand network, etc. Its advantage of fastness, exactness and efficiency makesit be widely used in tobacco industry, pharmacy industry, etc. With the market expanding, more needs are desired. This paper emphasizeson discussing the second generation tobacco inspection system based on doubleCCDs. Compared with the first generation product, it is more efficient, morestable and has better effect and meets the demands of market. Firstly, this paper introduced the structure, principle and academicbackground of the inspection system. Secondly, combining with the advantage of high processing speed of DSP,it analyzes the special processing board with which four DSPs are integrated.When understanding the principle and all kinds of methods of communication,I make use of the API functions to program in the CCS environment trying touse the board to the best. And then, a method of pattern recognition is introduced. Using it I designthe software and use it to distinguish the impurity from the tobacco. After that,it brings up using the network programming based on TCP/IPto control the four clients and this method can be easily extended. Finally, in order to decrease the difficulty of spot debugging, a simpleand quick method has been discussed.
