The Development And Research About Geneva Mechanism CAD System Based On Catia Software

CAD knowledge improves the development of manufacture. Even though some commercial and universal CAD software are used widely in every field, they can't satisfy some pertinence products designing. In order to use them easily, it is necessary to develop based-3D CAD platform according to the product characteristics.CATIA, copyright reserved by Dassault Corporation, is an excellent software integrated machinery CAD/CAM/CAE. It has strong functions and can be used to develop a variety of application programs as it is an open software.There are some problems in designing the key mechanism of the glassware line's machines—Geneva Mechanism, such as inefficiency, low precision, repeat work. In this paper, author develops the Geneva mechanism CAD system to resolve these questions. Furthermore, author puts forward a mathematics model to calculate Geneva wear, which is based on the tribology theory.In the paper, the author studies development method of CATIA thoroughly, and brings forward the master design of Geneva mechanism CAD system through using software engineering method. Finally, the CAD system is completed, which can be used to establish 3D modeling and output working sheet in the parameter model, implement finite element analysis of the product and simulate the movement in the analysis model. The system can be used without special knowledge of CATIA and suitable to kindred product designing. It improves the Geneva mechanism designing and prepares the foundation for integrated design of CAD/CAM/CAE. The system has the following features: simple interface, easy to use, favorable man-machine conversation, expandability, and so on.
