Due to its high sensitivity, simplicity and relatively low cost, chemiluminescence (CL) analysis has been widely used in biological engineering, molecular biology, medicine and environmental chemistry. This paper deals with the following five systems as examples to investigate the applications of CL analysis in Pharmaceuticals. A new CL analytical systems of Luminol- potassium periodate -calcein has been developed, and the determination of lomefloxacin hydrochloride and ascorbic acid has been established with this new CL system. In this paper, the properties of five systems are discussed by optics measure.1 Study of different systems for quantitative analysis of Lomefloxacin HydrochlorideThe determination of Lomefloxacin Hydrochloride are investigated by three different systems. (1) Lomefloxacin hydrochloride can greatly enhance the emission intensity of the weak chemiluminesence reaction of cerium (IV) and sulphite in acidic medium. Based on this phenomenon, a new method for determination of Lomefloxacin Hydrochloride has been established. The system responds linearly to Lomefloxacin Hydrochloride concentration in the range of 0.010~10 mg/L with a detection limit(3a)of 0.0050mg/L. (2) The determination of Lomefloxacin hydrochloride has been established by the system of Ce(IV)-Lomefloxacin Hydrochloride-Rh6G The system responds linearly to Lomefloxacin Hydrochloride concentration in the range of 0.10~ 15mg/L with a detection limit of 0.06mg/L. (3) The CL reaction of Luminol-potassium periodate -calcein was investigated . And the determination of Lomefloxacin Hydrochloride by this new CL analytical systeme has been developed. The CL intensity was correlated with the concentration of Lomefloxacin Hydrochloride in the range of 1.0~20mg/L with a detection limit of 0.50mg/L. These three systems have been successfully applied to the determination of Lomefloxacin Hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparations.2 Luminol-potassium periodate-calcein- ascorbic acid systemThe CL reaction of Luminol-KIO4-calcein- ascorbic acid was investigated. And a new determination method by this new CL analytical system has been developed, which has been applied to the determination of ascorbic acid in pharmaceutical preparations and the results are in good agreement with those of standard methods. The CL intensity was correlated with the concentration of ascorbic acid in the range of 5.0 X10-3mg/L~20mg/L with a detection limit of2.0x10-3mg/L.3 Ce (IV)- ceftazidime -Rh6G system. The CL properties of ceftazidime have been studied and a new CL analytical system to determine the concentration of ceftazidime has been established. The system responds linearly to ceftazidime concentration in the range of 0.10-16mg/L with a detection limit of 0.070 mg/L. The system has been successfully applied to the determination of ceftazidime in harmaceutical preparations.
