Batch chemical reactors are widely used in many industries, such as fine chemicals, grocery, biology and medicine, etc. It is no doubt that the perspective of its application is positive. However, batch processes are full of non-linearity, strong coupling, multivariable and large time-delay, change of parameter with time, thus it is difficult to control the processes in accord with production technique. As a result, the low level of automation and behindhand production management exit a lot of batch processes at large. Consequently, it is so significant how to accomplish production automation, improve production quality, reduce consumption and increases labor productivity.The synthesizing process of glyphosate is a typical batch production process. The production of glyphosate is mostly achieved by the organic synthesizing reaction. Its reaction mechanism is complex. The process must be controlled very well. Recently, many domestic companies that produce glyphosate by manual work are high labor intensity and low productivity. The Application of the distributed control system (DCS) can improve the precision of control so as to satisfy the rigorous request of the process. At the same time, it accomplishes the automation of production process, and improves product quality, reduces consumption, increases labor productivity.The synthesizing process of glyphosate is studied in the lecture. Each phase characteristic of the process is analyzed thoroughly. Proper control schemes are offered so as to accord with actual production condition, control request and production scale, mixing materials and weighing scheme, order control scheme and temperature control scheme included. The control system is achieved by integrating the there control scheme.The quantity and type of inputs and outputs were summarized and the controlling-stand hardware, the operating-stand hardware and software were selected corresponding before the DCS, SUPCON JX-300X, was selected for the factory and was put into use successfully by configuration and debugging. And the DCS designed can accomplish tasks , such as the data collection and real-time control. And itprovides the foundation for the further research about modeling and optimal control.The DCS acquires the satisfying effect that has operated safely, steadily and reliably. Its control precision reaches ±1℃. The product conversion has been stabilized above 70%. After manual operation was replaced by computer control, it avoids the man-made operation misses, lightens the labor intensity of workers, raises labor production efficiency. Therefore, the economic benefits are also distinct, barely the expense of raw material spared adds up to ¥1,000,000 and more.The dynamic characteristic of batch reactor is analyzed in the lecture .The model of temperature is developed. The predictive control strategy of the temperature is studied. The simulated results show that predictive control strategy has favorable performance for the batch process.
