The copolymer is prepared form the monomers of acrylic acid (AA)and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) in water solvent, initiated by sodium hypophosphite-sodium persulfate initiators. It contains phospho acid, carboxylic acid and sulfonic acid groups. The effects of the monomer's ratio, the amount of initiator, reaction temperature, reaction time (including drop time and follow-up reaction time with certain temperature) and the way of adding raw material on the corresponding product's scale inhibiting performance are studied by optimization techniques. By orthogonal experiments, the synthesis technique of the copolymer is optimized. The polymeric additive prepared with optimized synthesis technique is compared with other ordinary scale inhibitors. The results show that the copolymer possesses quite good effect in reducing scale depositions of CaCOs, Ca 3(PO4)2 and zincic salts, and that the production cost of the polymeric water treatment additive is cut down with optimized synthesis technique, and that its performance of scale inhibition improves observably, especially in inhibiting C...
