The Development And Restoration Of Chinese Antique Furniture

The development of Chinese antique furniture is based on the soil of Chinese traditional culture. At present, lots of antique furniture is destroyed, and the restoration of Chinese antique furniture has great meaning to preserve precious heritage of China. The restoration and development of Chinese antique furniture can carry forward our national culture and redounds to exchange oriental and occidental culture. Because most of the antique furniture was made of wood, which is difficult to preserve, existent antique furniture was mainly made in Ming or Qing dynasty. Thereby, this thesis, which puts emphasis on furniture of Ming and Qing dynasties, systemically studied the material, structure, decoration, restoration, and reproduction of Chinese antique furniture. At the same time, it discusses the methods of combining traditional arts and crafts with modem technique. The consumers and preference of Chinese antique furniture in different regions is subdivided and summarized in this thesis, and the business strategy of Chinese antique furniture is concluded accordingly. Based on the previous research, experience, and my own opinions, this study is an attempt of the development of Chinese antique furniture.
