The famous Soviet physicistГ.С.Ландсbергbelieves that: physics is an experimental science, the presumptions and laws of physics are obtained by means of experiments; we should let learners know: we can get the content of the presumptions and laws which can be logically expressed only by the way of experiment and measurement. With the rapid development of the technology of multimedia and computer, the virtual lab of physical experiments, as complement of traditional physics lab, is gradually shifting from theory studying to practical application. Therefore, how to apply virtual lab to instructing and learning, and how to integrate the advanced instructional theories to experimental teaching is becoming the focus of the physical teaching.In this paper, the author integrates computer technology and constructivist learning theory into the design of secondary physical optics virtual lab, it can promote meaningful learning for learners. It is divided into five parts: the first part describes the research objectives and contents, the significance in theory and practice of this subject, and the current development status of virtual laboratory; the second part consists of the details of the CAI, virtual laboratory technology involved and the associated teaching theory; the third part discusses the principles of design and utilization of the virtual lab; the fourth part shows the details of design and implementation of the virtual laboratories; the fifth is on the conclusion of this paper, and a summary of the virtual laboratory prospect.
