Earthquake is a natural disaster which affects the urban development process. Nan Yang occurred an earthquake with Ms6.5 in history and an earthquake with Ms4.7 on April 29, 2000.They caused severe damage. How to find the existence of cities seismic hazard and to find out the weak links in earthquake disaster prevention is an essential task to do defense work well in the study area.This paper Bases on the research results of subject of "The urban seismic disaster prediction and prevention countermeasures research in Nan Yang", which is a project of the China Seismological Bureau's "tenth five year plan" priority projects, "The seismic disaster prediction and prevention countermeasures research in several cities of China". Through the investigation on seismic geology disaster, various types of buildings and lifeline engineering in City proper of Nan Yang, it uses different methods to analyze the sand liquefaction, soft soil seismic sinking and other seismic geology disaster and assess the buildings,water supply, gas supply and other seismic vulnerability of lifeline engineering in the study area.On this basis, the author carries out a small division of seismic geology disaster in the study area, finds out the weaknesses of earthquake disaster prevention and puts forward the corresponding defensive countermeasures and suggestions.First, the author analyzes the seismic geological background of the study area, summaries the geological development process and seismic activities of the study area, and analyzes the historical destructive earthquakes in time and space distribution characteristics and its impact on urban areas in the study area, as well as the recent earthquake activity in time and space distribution characteristics, the earthquake framework Within the region and its Quaternary activity.Second, the author analyzes the survey data of various types of buildings for a total of 1305 items,7.22 million square meters in the study area. According to the classification of important buildings, high-rise buildings and the sample buildings, the author analyzes the seismic structure. He also analyzes water supply, gas supply, electricity supply and so on lifeline engineering material.Third, with the 61 project sites borehole data of the study area, the author use preliminary judgement, detail judgement and other technical means to calculate and analyze the sand liquefaction, soft soil seismic sinking and other seismic geological disasters and carry out a small division of seismic geology disaster.For the building and life project of the study area, the author uses the deterministic methods of structural vulnerability analysis and PUSH-OVER analysis to carry out the vulnerability of earthquake damage calculation, obtains the earthquake damage prediction results of single and also group buildings in different intensity and the prediction result of the system of water, gas, electricity, transportation, communications in the study area. It includes the vulnerability analysis of the nodal structures and connection and the failure prediction of system functions.Finally, for the actual situation of the study area, the author proposes to divide to three sites of anti-seismic favorable zone, anti-seismic unfavorable zone and anti-seismic risk zone in land-use planning of earthquake disaster reduction, and also proposes the suggestion for the future work of urban upgrading, water supply, electricity supply network transformation in the study area.
