Atmospheric-pressure glow discharge plasma technology have broad application prospects. The paper studies the atmospheric pressure glow discharge characteristics and obtains formation methods of stable glow discharge at atmospheric pressure, to provide a theoretical basis of stable glow discharge at atmospheric in air.In order to achieve the aim, the high-frequency and high-voltage power based on half-bridge MOSFET inverter is improved. In addition, different structures of electrodes-single pipe cylinder-ring plasma jet electrode, array jet electrode and paralleled plates dielectric barrier electrode are developed for carrying out APGD, and the discharge characteristics are further studied.In the discharge created by single pipe cylinder-ring plasma jet electrode and array jet electrode, important factors of discharge, such as waveform of applied voltage and flow rate, are studied. The glow discharge of argon at atmospheric pressure is achieved, and some basic rules are summarized.In the discharge created by the paralleled plate dielectric barrier electrode, the factors such as the discharge gap, dielectric materials, frequency and single/double dielectric are studied, by which confirmed the experimental conditions. Finally, the glow discharge of 2mm/a atmospheric pressure and 3mm/half a atmospheric pressure in air environment is achieved on this basics.
