With the times progressing,mathematics penetrates to other areas of konwledge of science and technology with an unprecedented breadth and depth,mathematical abstraction and the inherent high degree of unity continued at a higher level determines the broad application of this discipline.The birthing and in-depthp developmenting of calculus mixes closely with the extensiving application of mathematics,it stimulate and promote the emergence of many new disciplines and development.Calculus and astronomy,mechanics,chemistry,biology,engineer, economics natural sciences,social scienses and other sciences links hard closely,it is widely used.Relevant professional's students almost have to learn calculus contents in our higher college,some liberal arts of some college also establishes higher mathematics courses.But,the learning environment changes,and and the abstract calculus and many other reasons,many students are afraid of studying calculus,some students take the basic concepts of calculus isolately,and study higher Mathematics with with a high school elementary mathematical method,it incompatible with the modes of thought of calculus,this results in the application of calculus knowledge to solve specific practical problems has been lacking.With the method of demonstration research,this study designs one tables to measure First-year students'mastery of Calculus applications, for the First-year students application of calculus to solve practical problems for inspection and testing and quantitative analysis, the main use of ANOVA, using SPSS statistical package for data analysis and processing.The main conclusion: the same as the year of the major growth of students use calculus to solve practical problems gradually improved; it is significant difference that different major students use calculus to solve practical problems;it is no significant difference that the same boys and girls use professional calculus ability to solve practical problems; for the application of a very prominent subject,the answering of the physics students are better than math majors; for simple concept of calculus's understanding and mastering,the two majors are not significant different.Another, through a questionnaire survey of First-year students ,different major of students understand calculus the situation,found that a large part of the students consider themselves to understand the situation of calculus is general on the current. A small number of students interested in the application of calculus, nearly half of the students thought that the application of calculus have learned their major is very helpful, the vast majority of students apply calculus recommendations.From the response of students can see that students are not interested in most calculus application is due to lack more applications associated with the teaching process, for solving practical problems is not clear and the physical background of the problem makes the students do not understand the application of calculus become bored.This study can refer to logs for other teaching calculus in the future research,also for university mathematics teachers provide some advice in the teaching for the future major learning and development. As the capacity of researchers and related conditions, there are some problems in this study, there is still room to expand worthy to further explore the future.
