Nowadays, the earthquake disaster is one of the serious natural disasters which cause casualties and damages. It is destructive, hard to predict and rescue. However, there are many defects in the present earthquake rescue system in china. In order to improve the rescuing efficiency and reduce the cost, developing a set of thematic mapping system is significant.Mapping technology is developing rapidly in recent years, from traditional manual production to digital method. The whole process can be described as a qualitative leap. However, mapping technology of the thematic maps for a variety of special areas is still insufficient, especially in terms of the data integrity and efficiency. As mentioned above, and according to the specific demand of the emergency rescue job, we proposed a set of fast thematic mapping system applied to this area. The specific contents of this article are as follows:(1) By studying the selection and classification of earthquake thematic maps and taking the prominent theme and standardization of information into account, we proposed eight thematic maps applied to the earthquake emergency rescue, including the rescue team information, the rescue team status information, infrastructure damage information, the distribution of secondary disasters, the distribution of buried persons, search and rescue operations information, rescue operations information.(2) By studying the trigger technology and dynamic display technology to realize the automatic updating tips and locking moving targets.(3) By studying the thematic mapping technique and Microsoft SQL Server to realize quick mapping of thematic map.(4) Combining C# and ArcGIS Engine to finish the whole system.
