Nowadays, the studies of sustainable development focus on the quantitative evaluation and measures, the sustainable development of Three Gorges reservoir region attracts much attention. Based on the current research at home and abroad on sustainable development evaluation and spatial data integration technologies, a quantitative evaluation model is proposed for sustainable development in the Three Gorges reservoir region, which is supported by an integrated spatial database platform.Sustainable development of Three Gorges reservoir region involves multi-source data, which are long duration, large spatial extension, and a large quantity. In order to know the sustainable development level of region, these multi-source data need to have the characteristics of multiple scales, tense and efficient organization and storage, integration and sharing. By analyzing the characteristics of multi-source data and the needs of data Integration, this paper has studied key technologies to integrating data, such as vector, raster, attribute information of sustainable development in the reservoir region and so on, solved many problems like the determination of the spatial data coordinate system, the conversion between data with different spatial coordinates or data formats, spatializing statistical indicators, symbol standardization, etc. Based on ArcGIS GeoDatabase, spatial database framework is designed, and modular tools based on ArcToolbox are respectively provided to solve the storage of the vector, raster, and attribute data into database. By compiling the module tools to be scripts which can be batch processed, the work of integrating data becomes simpler and more rapid. In addition, in use of programming and the index database, the systems can get maps from various databases by county or by standardized map, also it can mutually query and interoperate between raster data and vector data, so the data could be organized and visualized fast and effectively, these are all key technologies to solve the data integration. At the same time, through the analysis of socio-economic conditions of the Three Gorges reservoir region and other multi-source data, sustainable development evaluation index system is constructed in this paper, which contains three sub-subsystems,10 indicators sets and 29 indicators. These indicators are summarized into professional statistical software SPSS, however, Some of them need to be extracted from the integrated reservoir database, the others is from attribute information in the statistical indicators, in this way, the level of each subsystem of all counties gets out, with the weight of each subsystem which is obtained by the Delphi Method and the evaluation model of the comprehensive sustainable development level of the counties, the comprehensive sustainable development level of each county in reservoir region comes out. And on this basis, the reasons that affect sustainable development and the corresponding measures are analyzed. Finally, the integrated system provides a database update function, with the updated data, the level of sustainable development in the reservoir region could be dynamically monitored and forecasted, and also this paper brings us ways to a quantitative evaluation of regional sustainable development with an integrated spatial data platform.
