Neutron induced prompt gamma-ray analysis has many advantages in analyzing plumbum in soil, such as high efficiency and high precision. It is a fast and effective censorial means for the work of protecting soil. The source of neutron is D-T generator, which is provided by the Northeast Normal University. This paper detailedly introduce the principle of neutron induced prompt gamma-ray analysis. In order to save time and experimental material, we use MCNP (a general Monte Carlo code for Neutron and Particle transport) to simulate to design the experimental setup and choose the characteristic gamma-ray of plumbum. The samples include soil and ceruse. The soil is same, but the mass of ceruse is different. We measure the samples many times and obtain much data. The software to calculate the content of plumbum in soil is compile by ourself. The measure result proves that it is feasible for D-T generator to analyze the content of plumbum in soil. Now, we can only manufacture D-T generator whose neutron flux density is 108n/s. We can heighten the neutron flux density of D-T generator to enhance the precision. In order to measure the trace element in soil, we use some material as less as possible which will disturb the element to be measured.
