As the core of any GIS, spatial database is GIS development's technology pillar. Spatial database technology is the forefront of research topics in the current database field. With the growing spatial data, spaces storage has been spatial database bottleneck in embedded system. How to effectively store expansion of spatial data has become the GIS developer's urgent task. The paper gives an effective solution that is through the embedded spatial database SQLite. How to use the relational database to store spatial data, and how to provide support to the spatial data operation through the spatial database middleware and how to map the spatial data in the relational database and guarantee the data completeness are the key technologies of spatial database researches.Firstly, the paper introduces the concept, characteristic and structure of spatial data systematically, discusses the existing storage methods, storage formats and storage models of spatial data in detail. Then describes the embedded relational database SQLite's architecture and development of mechanisms, analyzes its performance through the experiments comprehensively. The embedded spatial database to relational database's data mapping is the key point. The paper describes in detail the method which the document form organization's spatial data is mapped in SQLite. Moreover uses EVC tool to a secondary package of SQLite application methods to provide a simple, highly efficient and full-featured application interface for database operations, and gives the concrete example finally.
