Mr. Zhao Kai-hua is a well-known scholar in Chinese physics education. He is deeply respected by the students who engage in physics learning and research. His rigorousness in academic study, his great efforts in scientific research and teaching materials of higher education, and his contributions to higher education reform in physics set a good example for us. Mr. Zhao, who is nearly 80 years old, still devotes himself to physics teaching education. We are supposed to remember his academic experience, the results of scientific research and his contributions to Chinese college physics teaching education.This dissertation, starting from the personal experience of Mr. Zhao Kai-hua, narrates his viewpoints of physics education and teaching. His academic achievements are displayed in his research on the qualitative and semi-quantitative physics, nonlinear physics and standardization and informationization of physics terms. Mr. Zhao's exploration and achievements of physics teaching and education are mainly reflected in electromagnetics, the new concept of physics (including mechanical, thermal, electromagnetics, quantum physics, optics), the new concept of high school physics, and some teaching materials of physics for college students and high school students. Mr. Zhao's great contributions to physics teaching and education are also revealed in his compilation of College Physics, his concern with College Physics (Education Monograph), and his participation in different kinds of social activities related to physics teaching and education. What's more, Mr. Zhao's extraordinary unique ideas and thoughts are reflected in his proposal of the original problems about physics, his emphasis on the importance of interest in physics learning, and his attitudes toward exercise-doing.As an international renowned scholar in physics,Mr. Zhao Kai-hua has set an excellent example for younger generation in physics teaching. His devotion to and his viewpoints on physics teaching reformation should be remembered and passed down from generation to generation by those who engage themselves in physics teaching and research.
