Buried pipes crossing fault is subjected to damage in earthquake and fault is an important reason that damages buried pipes. The anti-seismic experiment of buried pipes crossing fault is an indispensable method in anti-seismic research of buried pipes. In terms of the same fault displacement, the strain and displacement action of the pipes with varied parameters are researched by experiment. In view of pipe-soil, fault and seismic load, the design includes the experimental model, the type of applying load and the equipment system for measurement. In the test, the fault is simulated by two boxes between which there is a gap. Firstly, the test of buried pipes crossing fault is done without soil in the boxes; secondly, it is done with soil, and contrast analysis of the two results is carried on; finally, the conclusion from ADINA numerical simulation and the specification (SY/T0450-2004) is drawn and is in contrast with the former two conclusions. In the experiment, several factors are considered: 1) pipe parameters such as depth, thickness, pipe diameter and material; 2) soil parameters such as soil types, pipe-soil interaction; 3) fault's parameters such as throw, drop; 4) load types such as static load, dynamic load and combination of the two loads. Some conclusions are drawn: when buried pipes cross fault, buried pipe would first damaged in region of bilateral fault, so special treatment should be done to pipe in bilateral fault region; pipe strain in bilateral fault region is nearly equal, but it's direction is opposite, that is to say, one belongs to the drawn region, the other is the pressed region; pipe distortion in axes direction is dissymmetry and the part of the pipe away from the fault move with the soil; big pipe diameter and thick wall should be selected and bigger pipe-soil interaction is helpful for buried pipe crossing fault.
