With the development of economy, buried pipelines has been widely used. Buried pipelines have become a very important part of industry and our living. Therefore it is necessary to analyze the buckling response of buried pipelines to large fault movements and evaluate the anti-earthquake capability of buried pipelines. It will offer a basis for the design, reinforce and reconstruct of buried pipelines. At first, many previous theories for the response of buried pipelines crossing fault are reviewed, a lot of main factors are collected, then parameters to study are proposed.Secondly, the finite element model is formed with ANSYS(a general finite element program system). Material nonlinearity and geometrical nonlinearity of pipelines and soil, including the interaction of pipelines and soil, are considered. The pipelines adopts 4 node shell element . The soil near the fault is modeled by DP and the soil far away from the fault is modeled by equivalent springs of Liu Aiwen.Thirdly, some parameters influencing seismic response are analyzed through practical calculation examples. For example diameter, thickness, depth, angle and so on. Some useful conclusions are drawn. Finally, the method of our codes has been introduced. From analysis of result, some advises are proposed.
