Geothermal energy is one of the new energy. It is of great significance for improving energy structure. With oil, coal and natural gas, geothermal resources are cheap, clean and renewable. They can be used directly. China's total geothermal resources are 7.9% around the world, ranking second, fewer than the United States'. High temperature geothermal resources are used for power generation, whereas low-medium geothermal resources mainly for non-electrical utilization. Geothermal water of Inner Mongolia is relatively limited. There is a natural hot spring in Reshuitang, Aohan. It is of practical significance for local economic development to exploit and utilize the geothermal resources.Through surveying on geological structure of Reshuitang area, the formation of geothermal resources in study area falls into active tectonic fault pattern. The basic form pattern of thermal groundwater is that groundwater infiltrates along the fault zone, circles in deep space, is heated inside the earth's crust, then rises along the fault zone, finally is stored in the fault fracture zone and glutenite cracks. The temperature of thermal groundwater is 66℃. The study area is located in the east of Yinshan with complex structure, joined the Neocathaysian structural system Daxing'anling fold belt at bump contact. This structural feature creates geological conditions for thermal groundwater's formation and migration. The cap rock consists of Epipleistocene clayey sand, MidPleistoceneseries clay, Paleogene and Neogene mudstone and Jurassic glutenite. This thick cap rock plays the role of thermal insulation. Based on temperature measurement, geophysical prospecting, drilling and other work, the reservoir strata of the study area is composed of shuttered zone with granite and loose glutenite is confirmed. Deep fault and many sublevel active faults provide a good channel for water storage, transport and exposed. Thermal source of the study area is related to the magmatic rock intrusion.By comparing reserves and allowable thermal groundwater exploitation, the geothermal reserves can be evaluated. Geothermal reserves are calculated by thermal storage method, while allowable exploitation by depression cone method. The allowable geothermal fluid exploitation is 1480m3/d. In accordance with the national standard, the quality of the geothermal fluid evaluation can be evaluated.The thermal groundwater is suitable to use of bathing, heating and breeding. The paper also gives a discussion about the environmental problems will be induced by the geothermal exploitation.
