In this research, the investigations of fine roots` distribution was implemented with the soil coring method in 3 different coverage plots of Artemisia ordosica Krasch. community. 2mm was the standard of the fine roots. At the same time, the soil moisture was content with the TSC~4. The results showed: the fine roots` distributions of different coverage plots showed the same characteristics. The root biomass reduced gradually along the soil depth. The max fine root biomass appeared at the depth of 0-20cm, and it was the half of whole root biomass. The root biomass was not showed obvious relativity with the density of Artemisia ordosica Krasch. Community, but showed great negative relationship with the soil moisture in soil profile. If the soil moistures of some soil layers reduced, the root biomass were increased. In one plot, if the soil moisture was enrich, the root biomass was generous. In the growth season, the root biomass dynamics assumed in a curve like"M". All above indicated a result: the root biomass had a positive relationship with the soil moisture.
