Studies On Halophytes Flora And Their Utilization In Northwest Of China

These is a wide ranges of excstence of halophytes in China, which ranges from tropic to cold temperature zone and it also ranges along the coasts and inland areas and some highlands as well. The Northwest of China is the place where we have the most soline soil and it is also also the centre of soline soil area in the world.Here it is rich in soline soil plants resource. According to statistics there are about 502 kinds of halophytes species in China, among which 70% exist in Northwest of China. Saline soil plants are important plants species reseurce,but we don't have a systatical research on it. So a systematical research on saline soil plants and its development as well as utilization matters of a lot both economically and socially.Based on former research,I focus on the reserch and analysis on halophytes. which is descicbed as follows.1. The Northwest of China has the plant species diversities, it covers 37 families and 129 genera for 354 species.Which seperately account of 52.1%, 58.9% and 70.5% of chinese halophytes family category. Among them there are three kinds belonging to endangered plants, they are Betula halophila Ching ex P. C. Li, Glycine soja Sieb.et Zucc., Frankenia pulverulenta L. Frankenia pulverulentae and 7 kinds of being endangered and rare plants: Haloxyon ammodendron (C. A. Mey) Bge), Populus euphratica Oliv, P. pruinosa Schrenk, Tamarix taklamakanensis M., Cistanche salsa (C. A. Mey) G Beck),C. fissa (C. A. Mey) G. Beck., C. tubulosa Wight.2. The complicated geographical features and the diversity of its ranges, they have four major types, 23 families of them covers 62.2% of the total number.3 families exist in tropical areas which covers 8.1% and 10 families exist in temperature zone, covering 27.0% and only 1 kind live in the miditerranean area covering 2.7%. The broadness of existence of saline soil plants in Northwest refelects the grim and valnerability of the plants living environments,only some widely-spread families depend on their huge species and adaptation take an advantage in such bad circumstances.There are 11 genera in the distributior.The saline soil plants in Northwest region belongs to temperature zone,and has a close relationship with accent Mediterranean.3. According to the potential utilization of the halophytes, more than 60 species of the halophytes can be used for traditional medicine or health food, more than 40 species of halophytes for landscaping and ornamental, more than 30 species for food, more than 20 species for fiber, 14 species of halophytes only distribute in Xinjiang or about to extinct for protection, more than 200 species for forage, almost of the 302 species of halophytes play a role in regional ecosystem building. More than 10 species of the halophytes, such as G勺,cyrrhiza spp,Limonium spp,Cistanche spp., Lycium ruthenicum and Nitraria spp., have higher potential for developing.
