Large cooling towers are important heat removal devices in power stations. The cooling towers of the same kind have similar structures. So it is possible to perform calculations of different cooling towers by the same set of programs. A set of programs written in APDL language of ANSYS is developed. These programs include several subprograms for modeling, solution, post-processing and three subprograms for construction stability analysis. This set of programs is modularized, parameterized and automatized. Being modularized, the programs can be expanded conveniently, and can be used for different purpose by running different subprograms. Being parameterized, the programs can be used in different calculations by changing its parameters. Automation reduces time and difficulty for users. Comparison with results of other software shows that these programs are reliable and are able to be applied in engineering calculations.
