Geological condition is the material basis for urban development. With the economic and social development, ecological and geological deterioration of the environment caused by comprehensive factors such as geological structure conditions, human engineering activities etc., has become increasingly revealed, and aroused all kinds of geological disasters have become increasingly outstanding, restricted the city's development, and had influenced on the people's quality of life. Especially the ground subsidence and other disasters caused by groundwater overexploitation, has become the most prominent, and the city has been severely affected economic development and social stability.In this paper, we have a system of research and analysis on the relationship between geological environment of the city and urban planning, have a discussion on some general problems of geological environment in China's urban planning. From protecting the city's geological environment and ensure the sustainable development of cities point of view, the current need to study and solve major environmental geological problems in the following: ground settlement, ground fracture, karstic collapse and other geological disasters and shortage of water resources, urban waste disposal, as well as special geotechnical environmental problems.The main research object of this paper is the western region of Xushui County, which area was fully filled with the geologic hazards, and research on the genetic mechanism of geological disasters, through systematic field investigation and laboratory analysis found that the major environmental geological problems in Xushui County is shortage of groundwater resources, water pollution and deterioration of water quality, mine environment geological problems, destruction of vegetation and soil erosion as a result of many years over-exploitation of groundwater and the mineral exploitation, resulting in ground collapse, cracks, and other geological disasters. According to Jiazhuang Village, Xiangyang Village, XinXiang village collapse field survey data analysis, the spatial distribution of settlement, cracking, collapse is controlled by tectonic, karst development; the distribution of ground collapsed, and cracks related to the thickness of the the quaternary, lithology and the change of groundwater level.On the basis of this we have analyzed the adaptability of Xushui County urban planning and geological environment, and proposed some suggestions, such as planning and utilization the hydrogeology conditions reasonably, a reasonable construction of small towns, alleviate geological disasters, strengthen location selection of towns and take reasonable avoidance measures , mining environment, protection and planning. Finally how to effectively control and improve the geological environment, and keep a sustained development of the economic about Xushui County, we put forward some suggestions for reference. We are required to do some deep and meticulous research on urban geological environment when in town planning, in order to fully merit the use, adaptation and transformation of geological environmental conditions.
