Philosophy of Science emerges in the 1930s. After flourish development, it eventually fell into two extreme (objective and relativism) of the endless debate, Controversy of the two sides has long to be at loggerheads. Beyond these two extreme antagonism, not only scientific development needs, but also new philosophy of science trend .In this context, a new philosophy of science rise in 1980s.That is hermeneutical-phenomenological philosophy of science. On the contrary with traditional philosophy of science, it reflects on science and explains philosophy of science with new angle of view. It not only raises many interesting viewpoints and deepens people's understanding of natural science, but propels the development of continental philosophy and philosophy of science. Therefore, we consider that hermeneutical- phenomenological philosophy of science is of great significance. So I regard hermeneutical- phenomenological philosophy of science as the main purpose of my dissertation. My dissertation will discuss the developing philosophy of science from theoretical background, main figure, the basic concepts and research orientation, and so on.Here is the context:In chapter one, I will explore the theoretical background that hermeneutical-phenomenological philosophy of science rises in two aspects. On one hand , contemporary western two tradition of philosophy—analytical philosophy and continental philosophy come to terms, their dialogue provides a theoretical basis. on the other hand, from the positivism to historism, objectivism to relativism, in the course of development of philosophy of science has a lot of contradiction. That was the base of hermeneutical-phenomenological philosophy of science, because it offers many issues to be explored for hermeneutical-phenomenological philosophy of science and makes it birth necessarily. In chapter two, I will reveal basic concepts of hermeneutical- phenomenological philosophy of science which science also need meaning and understanding, pre-understand has the priority in the research of science; practice is more fundamental than theory; truth is inseparable from the specific situation. In chapter three, I will introduce three main figures and their ideas in hermeneutical- phenomenological philosophy of science. By hermeneutical phenomenology, P. A. Heelan pursues the cultural sources of scientific theory. He put forward that theory is "praxis-laden". Don Ihde discusses the relation between hermeneutics and technical sciences in detail and reveals the hermeneutical nature of scientific object. He put forward hermeneutics of scientific object. Based on interaction between object and subject, E.T. Gendlin re-examine the question of objectivity and put forward a responsive objectivity. At last, I will discuss the value and shortcomings of hermeneutical-phenomenological philosophy of science. Hermeneutical- phenomenological philosophy of science has great influence on continental philosophy and philosophy of science. Meanwhile, it also has shortcomings. First, its theoretical dispersion; second, it can not reveal the objectivity of knowledge drastically.
