A Study Of The Display Template Of Military Electronic Topographic Map

Nowadays, people were not satisfied with aspects in the display of military electronic topographic map. On the one hand, it was not suitable to control the density of information on the screen, which led to the phenomenon that the needed contents couldn't be found while the needless contents appeared full of the screen. On the other hand, the symbols of military electronic topographic map continued to use those of paper map, without considering the rules of visual perception, which influenced the effect using military electronic topographic map. Thus, it seemed quite important to study the display effects of military topographic electronic map. Considering the utility of military electronic topographic map, this paper studied the display template of military electronic topographic map.1,In order to meet the need of command in the military affairs, and suit the thought continuity and the cognitive inertia of people, the author put forward the concept of display scale model and set it up. At the same time, Taking many factors into account, the paper established the classification list according to the display importance of military basal geographical features. It realized the multi-scale representation of detail information from the whole region to the local area, and guaranteed the clarity in the display template of military electronic topographic map.2,Based on the concept of display pattern, this paper studied the principles and methods of the symbol design in the military electronic topographic map which appeared in the way of equipoise, background and goal. Furthermore, the existing system of symbols was amended and improved. All was established for the foundation of the display template facture of military electronic topographic map.3,The idea of template technique was used to turn the knowledge of map design and the experience of practice from cartography experts into map template and visualization. These display templates with multi-scale and multi-pattern reflected the characters of different regions and to satisfy the requirements of different purposes. It tried to change the idea of demand-supply to that of initiative service.4,Finally, the paper devised and implemented the visual perception testing system of military electronic topographic map. And the critical value in the display scale model was corrected by the test. By analyzing of the result of visual perception test, we can ameliorate the display template of military electronic topographic map and the design of symbol system further.
