Carbon cluster-like radar absorbing material is a new material designed and developed based on the relationship between structure and vibration-rotation motion levels of planar cyclocarbon cluster. Three aspects of Carbon cluster-like radar absorbing material have been studied in this paper: (1) The computer aided design method. (2) The structural changes and micro-appearance are studied by FT-IR spectroscopy and SEM ,and the absorbing performance of Carbon cluster-like radar absorbing material is studied by experiment.(3) the measure of permittivity is studied.Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to evaluate the equivalent permittivity of double-layer Carbon cluster-like radar absorbing material which is ued to studied the effect of thickness on absorbing performance. The computational result showed that the change of the total thickness infuenced absorbing performance greatly. When fix the total thickness ,the change of the thickness of absorbing layer mostly inflence the maximum and less the effective band. It is also found that there is a favorable thickness between two layers.The two sorts of carbon cluster-like material with the temperature of 700℃and 1000℃are prepared. The structural changes and micro-appearance are studied by FT-IR spectroscopy and SEM .The FT-IR spectroscopy shows that: the microstructure of the materials changes dramatically with the temperature, which result in different absorbing properties. The SEM photos show that the powder of carbon cluster-like material is short fiber with the round cross section in the length scale ofμm. According to the computational result using the 700℃and 1000℃material to prepare double-layer Carbon cluster-like radar absorbing material and study the match property of it,which confirm the computational result and obtain a useful double-layer Carbon cluster-like radar absorbing material.The stationary wave method is used to measure the reflectivity of RAMs and its theory is introduced briefly. The emphasis is on the measurement of permittivity by wave guide method.
