Atmospheric Detection with Laser is a kind of techniques in remote sensing and detecting for the parameters of atmosphere, which has exceptional predominances in detecting the important physical parameters of atmosphere in clear sky and the concentrations of atmospheric components. With the constant development of modern lasers technology and Theories in Atmospheric Detection with Laser, the technique of atmospheric detection with laser develops rapidly, and is increasingly applied to a number of military and civil fields.The technology of photoelectric detection is one of the key technologies for atmospheric detection with laser. The performances of photoelectric detectors directly affect the photoelectric signals, and then affect the precision of atmospheric detection with laser. Based on the ground-based incoherent Doppler wind lidar, the paper analyzed the theories and principles related to photoelectric signal of atmospheric detection with laser, and the key technologies to improve SNR. According to the performances of the lidar, a fitting PMT was selected and the Gating PMT Detection System has been designed and developed. Wide band, low noise, high speed OPA LMH6702 was used and the PMT preamplifier circuit has been designed and developed. On the basis of characteristics of the electric circuit, theoretical analysis has been given about noise and bandwidth of the PMT preamplifier circuit, and theoretical formulas for noise and bandwidth have also been presented in this paper.It is proved by experiment that the key technologies of receiving photoelectrons in Atmospheric Detection with Laser studied in the paper can effectively improve detectable-distance of lidar, detection precision and SNR. The study in this paper is also helpful to the further development of Atmospheric Detection with Laser.
