| Through researching on the theories and methods of the risk, risk management and lightning risk management, analyze the main problems of the risk assessment standard, risk assessment parameters, and risk assessment models for lightning hazard in use. Give out the definition of the risk and the method of the risk management, point out the importance of the lightning risk management, sum up the theories and the methods of the lightning risk assessment.The Electrogeometric Model (EGM) which is widely accepted relates striking distance to the prospective peak stroke current. This paper describes how to analyze every parameter of lightning risk assessment. In this way, the attractive volume of a building is defined in terms of the lightning polarities. The exposure surfaces are located inside the attractive volume according to the striking distances. In order to obtain its equivalent exposure area, in integral of the probability density functions is performed on the exposure surfaces with respect to downward leader approach angle and striking distance. Then, the annual frequency of lightning striking to the building can be estimated by the equivalent exposure area and ground flash density. Then reach on the probability of lightning damage on the structure by probability distribution density in order to get infection of damage probabilities.The work of lightning risk management would provide convenience by quantification of assessment parameters for the estimator, and administer to the generalization of the lightning risk management. Based on the theories of IEC 62305 and after seeing about the work of the lightning risk assessment all over the country, the paper empolders the software of the lightning risk management by Language C#. Following the tenet of spreading the assessment work and advantage the valuator, the system has done with the assessment of the structure and assessment of the services. In order to verify its validity, a test of Shanghai EXPO is conducted.
