Following the development of expressway, railway and water conservancy, adopting slope protection with vegetation is taken more seriously by every nation. A great deal of excavation is very common in civil construction. The excavation destroys the former vegetation and leads to many bare soil or rock slopes, then the serious soil erosion comes into being and the balance of ecology environment is broken. Slope protection with vegetation is called "life" protection. The new technology which is used to stabilize rock slopes and contain water. Its a comprehensive engineering technology that is involved geotechnical engineering, resumptive bionomics and botany etc. At present research of Eco-Protection Technology concentrate on to construction craft and research on water and soil conversation mainly, neglect dome plant engineering mechanics behavior of root system protect research combined together with plant protection and engineering protection, it result in the protected theory far its lag behind development of technical application. So researching on the mechanical effect of the plant root system influence to the slope is necessary.The passage in collection and analysis massive domestic and foreign materials foundation, firstly elaborates the theory knowledge of slope protection with vegetation. Then taking plant root system s mechanics function as searching object, it carries on analysis to the plant itself characteristic and reinforcement of slope surface layer.The main achievements are as follows:(1)It bases on the exploration and sampling on the spot, through mechanic tensile test illustrates the relation between the root system tensile strength and root system diameter;(2)With plenty of direct shear tests, selecting distribution density of roots as influence factors, the extent of cohesion of soil being enhanced is determined. The result discovered the few roots the existence can enhance the stability of the slope and has very tremendous influence;(3)The simulation rainfall test proves that plant root system can improve the capability of resisting and eroding of soil mass obviously under different conditions, at the same time it shows plant these improvement also associable with soil, root content, soil proper situation and a great deal of other factors.
