Information sharing has become an important sign in the modern society. In recent years, with the development of the national spatial information infrastructure, national e-government, the natural resources and geospatial information infrastructure, cross-department and cross-trade GIS appeared, spatial information sharing become more and more important. Earth observation science data sharing platform takes full advantage of spatial data resources, achieving the spatial information sharing actually, solving heterogeneous distributed spatial data sharing.Metadata technology plays an important role increasingly as the key to information sharing technology. Spatial metadata describe spatial datasets content, quality, methods, spatial reference, management and the other features of the spatial information, contributing to the understanding of spatial data, the foundation, the location, excavation, assessment and maintenance. It is possible to use metadata to search data in different regions of spatial information, Web Service also provide technical support for it.The main work of this paper includes: recalling the development trend of the spatial data sharing, analyzing the traditional methods and strategies, summarizing the current home and abroad mainstream metadata standards and systems. Studying Web Service architecture, putting up service-oriented metadata query technology solutions to data sharing ideas. Regarding metadata as a idea of sharing information and methods, using current technology Web Service to query distributed data, achieving sharing distributed spatial data to some extent, and also using the international standards protocol to standardize data access interface, providing transparent user-oriented platform.
