Solidago canadensis, a perennial plant originating from North America, has become an invasive plant in subtropical zone, eastern China. We studied growth characters of S. canadensis, compared the growth and ecophysiological characteristics of S. canadensis and its companion species, compared the growth and photosynthetic characteristics of S. canadensis and native endangered plant Molsa hangchowensis, then analyzed the growth strategies of S. canadensis. We campered growth characters of S. canadensis from Kingston and Hangzhou, they have consistent relationship between module biomass and total biomass, and between height and module biomass, total biomass. S. canadensis has difference in biomass allocation among different growth season. For stem weight raito(SWR), Dec> Nov> Aug, for leaf weight ratio(LWR), Aug> Nov, for root weight ratio(RWR), Dec> Nov. We found that the cluster S. canadensis showed significant higher LWR (.P<0.05). The SRL(Specific root length) of S. canadensis is significant higher than that of M. hangchowensis. We moved the roots of S. canadensis into Phragmites australis community in winter, the growth of S. canadensis was inhibited on next year. S. canadensis and Erigeron annuus have similar SLA, LAR, RLR, RWR. The The light compensation point, light saturation point and the maximum net photosynthetic rate of S. canadensis were 18.41μmolm-2s-1, 1296.61μmolm-2s-1, 11.21μmolm-2s-1, respectively, indicating that S. canadensis is a typical heliophyte.HR of S. canadensis was significant higher than that of M. hangchowensis. The reason that M. hangchowensis being endangered is that it has disadvantageous phenotypic plasticity orientation.Increasing attention has been directed towards the efforts of invasive plant on soil, we examined the relationship of two methods for the determination of soil element, K and Na. The standard method is the Flame Atomic Emission Spectrophtometry, and the ICP-AES method is gradually used. For K, the relative analysis is powerful for 4 types of soils. For Na, the relativity is low, when 4 types of soils taking as a group.
